Leadership

Leadership

Leadership is a force, not a title. Regardless of the situation or who is officially in charge, bring leadership to the world wherever you go. This does not mean bossing people around, it can mean many things depending on the context.

When you're in the role of leadership it can become more difficult to set your own priorities in the day or to even determine what the highest priority is? The 3 by 3 System prevents others from dictating your priorities and puts your focus on the things that matter.

If you are in a management position and you don't think you can fire someone because your own boss would not be supportive, then you will never succeed as a manager in that company and you should find a new boss.

When in a leadership role, you can't communicate with your subordinates the same way you communicate with your peers. When you were an employee at an organization, you learned to argue your case and to present a compelling story to your peers to get them to lean towards your approach to a particular problem. But when you are in leadership, these same tactics cane come off as threatening and controlling. First ask yourself if these opinions are necessary or should your subordinate forge their own path ahead. If they are deemed necessary, simple things like, "I would like to see X take place" or "I would like to see Y from you" will go a much longer way and not be with as much hostility and fear as arguing your case. Amazingly, these same phrases would prompt the opposite reaction when used with your peers.
